The Plymouth Medical Society Historic Collection includes archives and books dating back to the 17th century.
Covering the foundations of modern day surgery and the current understanding of anatomy and physiology, the Collection provides a rare scholarly resource on the development of medicine in the South West.
It is made available to the public through a Heritage Lottery Grant which aims to protect this part of our heritage and make it accessible to posterity.
The web-site provides access to medical images from book illustrations in the Collection, digital copies of some unique documents and catalogues of the resources available. Visits to the collections can also be arranged.
